The fifth annual Chief Marketing Officer Summit was held virtually held online Oct. 21-22; participants can sign up for individual or all sessions. In partnership with Forbes and the American Marketing Association’s USC student chapter, the summit explored marketing’s critical role in an era of disruption.

Markets are changing; competition is coming from new directions; newer brands often are preferred over long-established brands; distribution channels are shifting; inflation and other dynamics are influencing pricing strategy; and media is available 24-7 in the palm of our hands. All of this is occurring while the search for talent is more competitive than ever. Diversity, agility, grit, empathy and business acumen are foundational to future success in business. Marketing has always played an important role in every company’s success, but over the past year and in the years ahead, marketing will have an even greater impact on determining which companies win and which ones lose.
At the forefront of business competitiveness is the marketer. Business functions, customer relationships and industry/market trends are more interconnected than ever. Across this two-day event, participants learned firsthand about how marketers are:

Attendees heard from marketing thought leaders at companies that include Progressive Insurance, Egon Zehnder, Blue Buffalo Co., Techtronic Industries, Coca-Cola Bottling, E. & J. Gallo Winery, iHeart Media, Mondelez International, Allstate Insurance, Cox Automotive, Continental Tire and Lionsgate Entertainment.
