Gloria Boutte named 2022 AERA Fellow

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) has announced the selection of 18 exemplary scholars as 2022 AERA Fellows. The AERA Fellows Program honors education researchers for their exceptional contributions to, and excellence in, education research. Nominated by their peers, the 2022 Fellows were selected by the Fellows Committee and approved by the AERA Council, the association’s elected governing body. They will be inducted during a ceremony at the 2022 Annual Meeting in San Diego on April 22. They join 696 total AERA Fellows.

“We are thrilled to honor the 2022 AERA Fellows for their exceptional scholarship and significant contributions to the field,” said AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine. “AERA Fellows demonstrate the highest standards of excellence. We welcome the class of 2022 to these prestigious ranks.”

Teachers in session

CarolinaTIP teacher sessions help participants uncover bias

The Carolina Teacher Induction Program (CarolinaTIP) is designed to empower new teachers with the perseverance needed to thrive in a demanding and ever-changing profession by growing teachers’ comprehensive capacity as a means to increase their resilience, helping teachers navigate and balance the demands of the job, and guiding teachers in the development of tools required to meet the increasingly complex needs of schools and students. A defining thread of support, woven throughout every aspect of the program, is growing novice educators’ ability to reach and teach all students. TIP Teacher Sessions help teachers uncover biases and confront barriers to student success so they can create and lead inclusive classrooms.

CarolinaCrED offers new diversity education micro-credentials

CarolinaCrED (formerly Office of Educational Outreach) is proud to host a robust micro-credential library for South Carolina learners and leaders. A micro-credential recognizes a discrete skill of an educator that is related to their practice, based on evidence that demonstrates competency of that specific skill.

The first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion micro-credential stack is one of the most recent to be made available. This stack helps promote personalized professional learning to build capacity in schools and organizations. The DEI micro-credentials are designed to provide educators with tools to identify several types of biases. Pursuers will be equipped to reflect on causes and impacts of bias to inform work on future micro-credentials. A phenomenal DEI developer team is working hard to add to the growing library. Visit carolinacred.org to learn more about DEI micro-credentials and other opportunities for personalized professional learning.
