- if student graduates early, the University allows students to use remaining eligibility for graduate study at UofSC if enrolling in the next Fall semester; however your scholarship provider/donor may have some requirements to do this – please check with a Scholar Programs advisor
- renewal requirement of 3.00 UofSC system GPA (only work at UofSC)
- grades are checked following the Spring Semester; students who fall below the required GPA are sent a suspension email and must attend summer school at UofSC in order to regain a 3.00 UofSC system GPA by the end of summer
- students who do not regain the UofSC system GPA have their scholarships terminated and may appeal to the Student Financial Aid Committee if the student has extenuating circumstances
- students are required to write a donor thank you note annually; Class of 2023 and subsequent classes must complete notes before Thanksgiving Break or will lose their scholarship for the next academic year and all consecutive years (see the Stamps, Carolina, McNair, 1801, and Horseshoe Scholars Award Agreement)
- can use the scholarship for National Student Exchange Plan A (fees paid to host school) or Plan B (fees paid to UofSC)
- can use the scholarship for UofSC sponsored study abroad and in most instances, non-UofSC sponsored study abroad programs (there are some restrictions with non-UofSC programs)

- science and math majors may be eligible to receive an additional $2500 per year starting in the sophomore year provided that the student earns 14 hours in math, science or a combination of both during their freshman year. - summer is a grace period to raise GPA/increase hours earned; GPA problems must be resolved by attending summer school at UofSC, hours earned deficits may be resolved by attendance at any institution

When you reach 160 credit hours, please know you will be contacted by Financial Aid and Scholarships to complete the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal Form to have your Palmetto Fellows award renewed for your senior year. At 180 credit hours earned, you may lose this award.
