Students
The USC system had more than 39,300 students on its eight campuses in fall 2005, representing 50 states and 100 nations. More than 27,000 students were enrolled at the flagship Columbia campus, 88 percent of whom were from South Carolina and more than 21 percent of whom were minorities. Students
Faculty
In fall 2005, there were nearly 2,100 full-time faculty members from all campuses, including 1,450 at the Columbia campus. Faculty generated $166.2 million in research money for 2005. The face of the faculty will be changing greatly over the next few years with a Faculty Excellence Initiative recruiting 150 new tenure-track faculty members, and the Centenary Plan bringing in 100 new research faculty. Alumni
There are more than 215,000 living alumni from all campuses. About 32,000 are members of the Carolina Alumni Association, including about 3,300 students. Alumni
Supporters
Carolina friends and alumni have a variety of ways to support the University. The Development office oversees a number of annual giving programs and recognition societies for major donors, and the Gamecock Club provides opportunities to support Carolina Athletics. Supporters
